We conducted an experiment with vinegar and baking soda to see how it would react. We used the inside of a pumpkin as our container. We also added food coloring to make it more exciting to see!
We have been using different items to measure our pumpkin and our door. Before we get the actual measurement, we make a guess as to how much of the item it will take to measure it accurately. We measured the height, weight, and learned a new word to describe how bug around it was--circumference! To measure our door we used pictures of fall-like items. The students counted as I taped them. We learned that measurements can be different when we have different items to measure with.
This week we have been investigating pumpkins! We used our five senses to discover what a pumpkin feels, smells, and looks like and then came up with descriptive words to tell about it. Next week we will get to taste pumpkin seeds!
