"I'm going to invent ice cream that changes flavors every time you lick it"-student.
We spent a lot of time talking about what an inventor is and the process they go through to create their invention. We incorporated Black History Month into our unit by studying Madame CJ Walker--straightening comb, Garrett Morgan--stoplight, Lewis Latimer--first drawing of the telephone, and George Crum--Saratoga Potato chips. George Crum was our favorite thanks to the potato chip taste testing! Thanks to several of our parents, we created a hair salon equipped with hair styling tools and various sizes of dolls.

This week we spent time talking about ways we could be a good friend to a classmate. We read books that had great ideas (i.e Rainbow Fish, Porcupine Valentine, and Forsythia and Me). Our class came together and made a friendship quilt (pictures coming soon) that represents the ways in which we can be nice to one another. We also made friendship bracelets for our table mates by asking them what colors they like!
We helped keep the room nice and clean by finding all of the germs and putting them in the correct germ gobbler! We had so much fun!
It's that time of year again when our little friends get sick! We decided to learn about germs last week and how they make us sick. Once we knew that, we set out to learn how we can keep them away!!
