These past few weeks we have been focusing on what it means to be thankful and how we can show one another how thankful we truly are. Each student gave two or three things they were thankful for and we decided to create a "Thankful Tree" to help us remember. We then took the things they were thankful for and made a guessing game out of it. We talked about clue words that could help us narrow it down to who said each thing.

Whew! What a fast couple of weeks we've had! But you know what they say, time flies when you're having fun! Last week we centered our learning centers around a turkey and thanksgiving theme. We used our imagination to make turkeys say funny things like "Eat more Chicken". We worked on our fine motor skills by painting corn templates with q-tips. We also played a turkey math game by rolling dice and placing that number of beads on the turkey's feathers! In our dramatic play center we created a thanksgiving feast! We went to the grocery store to gather our necessary items, came home and set the table, and then prepared a delicious meal!
This week we continued our fall unit by making pumpkin playdoh, exploring the possible uses of leaves, and reading numerous fall themed books! One of the books, "Leaf Man", inspired us to make our very own leaf man characters, however, we needed to decide what items we needed in order to create it. We came up with the idea of going on a Nature Walk at the ever so wonderful Myriad Gardens to collect items! But before we went, we had to think really hard about what we were going to pick up.
This week we dove into all things fall! We used our “touch” sense to make predictions about the items in our Fall sensory bags. The items included acorns, fall-colored leaves, pinecones, sock and glove, and gourds. We also did a paint-by-number fall scene and talked about why the leaves change colors. To work on our fine motor skills, we used clothespins that each had a letter written on it and pinched them onto a leaf that had that matching letter.
