This week we got to be investigators while looking at pumpkins! We compared the outside of different pumpkins, and wondered what could be inside of it! To find out, we cut a whole in the top of the pumpkin and stuck our hand inside without looking. We used our senses to tell us how it felt! "Slimy, yucky, and a lot of pumpkin tornado damage" were some of the things the students said! We also built our very own Pumpkin Patch in the classroom that was filled with fall leaves and pumpkins! We even turned a pumpkin into a geoboard and made shapes with rubber bands! One student asked how big a pumpkin is so we decided to find out! We used unifix cubes to measure the height of it and used yarn to find out about how big around it was!

This week was filled with exciting field trips and special events happening in our classroom and school! On Tuesday we traveled to the library and checked out some awesome books and ended the day at PUMPKINVILLE!! We had so much fun bowling with the pumpkins and looking at all the different sizes and colors of them!! On Wednesday we concluded our community helper/transportation unit with a cardboard box vehicle parade around the school. The best part of the week came when we had our fall party!! We really enjoyed all of the yummy snacks and treats that our parents brought!! Thank you so much!!!
This week we have been learning all about the transportation in our community! In our centers we built our very own construction site after the book "Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site". We also explored different traffic signs and types of cars in our block center. We made parking lots and streets for our cars to travel on. We even talked about all the different shapes we could use to build our very own shape vehicles. We are so excited to make our vehicles for the parade next week!
This past week we added more community helpers to our guest list including dental hygienists, and an engineer! During our centers, we wanted to be artists and paint on canvas boards!! We also wanted to be a meteorologist for a day so we practiced giving a weather forecast report! But the best was the chef center where we got to make our very own chef hats and work together to make trail mix!
